Trump: “We Could Wipe Out All of Iran in a Day – Maybe That Day Is Tomorrow”
Negotiations between the United States and Iran over a potential agreement to end the war remain uncertain, with both sides sending mixed signals.
**Iran’s Response to US Peace Plan Includes Control Over the Strait of Hormuz**
Iran’s reply to the US peace proposal demands the lifting of economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic, an end to Washington’s blockade of Iranian ports, and Iranian management of the Strait of Hormuz – provided the US meets certain unspecified “commitments,” according to the Tasnim news agency early Monday.
Diplomatic sources told Tasnim, an agency linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, that the ayatollah’s government called for the removal of the blockade, permission to export crude oil, and the lifting of US economic sanctions on Iran and its assets held by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The Iranian proposal also specifies that the Strait of Hormuz – a flashpoint for tensions between Washington and Tehran that has kept the global economy on edge – would be managed by the Islamic Republic under certain “commitments” from the US that were not detailed.
**Trump Calls Iran’s Response “Totally Unacceptable”**
US President Donald Trump on Sunday described Iran’s answer to the US peace proposal as “totally unacceptable,” further dimming hopes for a settlement to end the conflict.
“I just read the response from the so-called ‘representatives’ of Iran. I don’t like it. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” the president wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The brief statement came after Iran presented its reply to the US proposal for resolving the war in the Persian Gulf, the details of which remain undisclosed.
**Macron: No Military Deployment in Hormuz Considered, But France Is Prepared**
French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Sunday that “a French or Franco-British deployment in the Strait of Hormuz was never considered,” but added that France is prepared, following Iran’s warning to Paris and London that it would respond “firmly and immediately” to such a scenario.
“Such a deployment has never been contemplated, but we are ready,” Macron said during a joint press conference in Nairobi with Kenyan President William Ruto, ahead of the Africa Forward Summit co-chaired by Kenya and France.
“France has never considered that option. We have set up an ‘ad hoc’ mission, co-led with the United Kingdom, which has brought together 50 countries and international organizations to ensure – in cooperation with Iran and by reducing tensions with all regional countries and with the United States – the resumption of maritime traffic and the transportation of fertilizers, food, gas, oil, and other products, as soon as conditions allow,” the French leader clarified.
**Pakistan Confirms Receipt of Iran’s Response to US Peace Proposal**
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on Sunday that his country has received Iran’s response to the latest US peace proposal aimed at ending the war in the Persian Gulf.
During a speech at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, Sharif revealed that the marshal had conveyed the message.
