

Olympic silver medalist in doubles and world No. 7 Mirra Andreeva failed to reach the semifinals of the WTA-1000 clay-court tournament in Rome, Italy, after falling to two-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 4 Coco Gauff.
In the quarterfinal clash, Andreeva (seeded 8th) lost 6:4, 2:6, 4:6 to Gauff (seeded 3rd). The match lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. Andreeva hit three aces, committed six double faults, and converted 5 of 12 break points. Gauff delivered two aces, four double faults, and converted 7 of 17 break points.
The head-to-head record now stands at 5-0 in favor of the American. Gauff will next face world No. 27 Sorana Cirstea of Romania for a spot in the final.
